Normal wake up time when on the trail is around 6.30am, with a selection of teas, coffee, and hot chocolate on offer.

After a full breakfast our kit-bags are packed and given to our porters to carry, or are loaded on to yaks. Members carry only their day-pack. We are usually on the trail by 8.00am with the aim of starting early and finishing early.

Distances traveled each day are no more than a few kilometers, although don’t be deceived as walking at high altitude is very different to sea level. Our longest days stretch to six to seven hours walking at a slow pace, with a long break for lunch to keep out of the midday sun. Trekking is always on well formed tracks, and there is no climbing or mountaineering aspect whatsoever.

Temperatures on the trail start as low as minus 5 deg C before sunrise, and can reach 18 to 20 deg C at midday, even at the altitude of Everest Base Camp.

Sometimes snow is encountered, although our seasonal timing ensures the highest likelihood of good weather.

There is a great deal of time to sit and read, talk to the Sherpas, to wander the villages, and to relax and enjoy the magical scenery.
