After many Everest treks we are able to advise on the best clothing and gear you should bring with you to the Khumbu.

You will receive a trek kit-bag prior to departure which will be your carry-bag whilst on trek. You can bring additional clothing (and suitcase) with you, subject to normal airline restrictions, which you can leave at our hotel in Kathmandu.

Your trek kit-bag, when fully packed, must weigh no more than 15kg; this is a restriction on the internal flight to Lukla, as well as being a realistic limitation on what we expect our porters to carry for us. So please be sparing in what you bring and economise on weight wherever possible.

When trekking you will only have to carry your own day-pack, which will contain any personal requirements, plus your water bottle, rain jacket, warm jacket/sweatshirt and camera gear.

Many of the items in our Gear List (eg down jackets, warm gloves) can be purchased quite cheaply from the many trekking shops in Kathmandu, so there is no need to panic if you forget something. But it is our advice to bring most/all items with you to avoid the need for last-minute shopping.

Everest Treks preferred apparel supplier is Macpac, another proud New Zealand based company. All trekkers who shop at Macpac and identify as Everest Treks clients will receive 30% off Macpac gear or the sale price, whichever is the best deal.

Given current airline security requirements it is advisable to pack all of your liquid and gel items, such as liquid hand wash, toothpaste, creams etc, in your checked-in luggage, not in your cabin luggage.
