John Gully

John Gully, Founder of Everest Treks, developed a passion for mountaineering in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, and managed a number of Himalayan summit attempts in the 1980s, including three expeditions to Mt Everest. Since establishing Everest Treks John has led hundreds of people and scores of treks to the Everest region.

Tony Blain

Tony was a New Zealand representative cricketer and is currently a Physical Education teacher at Mt Albert Grammar School in Auckland. He has been  Group Leader for Youth to Everest treks on a number of occasions, and his passion is working with young people. He has a charismatic personality, and is a much liked and respected leader of our treks.


Fiona (Fee) Joyce

 

Fee was a Group Nurse for our 2009 Youth to Everest, and was a significant contributor to the program. Fee returned to the Everest Region as a Group Leader in 2010; she has a dynamic nature and an infectious enthusiasm. Fee is a registered nurse specialising in delivery of emergency medicine; she has a Bachelor of Health Science and a Diploma in Outdoor Recreation. Fee has worked as a Wilderness Instructor (Project K), and is a member of Auckland Land Search and Rescue and of the Red Cross Emergency Relief Team.

Erik Inkster

Erik is New Zealand born and a captain in the merchant navy. When he’s not at sea he is indulging his passion for the outdoors. He first journeyed to Nepal in 1990 and spent three months in the Khumbu assisting our treks as a qualified paramedic. He has since returned several times as a trek leader.


Tony Atkins

 

Tony was a leader of our Youth to Everest Trip in 2005. He is a senior police officer based in Marton who has had extensive experience with young people through police and community programmes. Tony was an accomplished representative rugby player who has in more recent times competed in several multi sport events. A “gentle giant”, he embraced Nepal when he visited with us in 2005, and we were delighted and privileged to have him return as a Group Leader in 2010.
